40 Days for Life

What is 40 Days for Life?
“40 Days” is a worldwide peaceful prayer vigil held outside of abortion clinics to pray to end abortion. It is held for 40 days in the Spring and 40 days in the Fall; locally, the closest 40 days campaign is held in from of the Planned Parenthood facility at 933 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, from 7am until 7pm.

What do I do at a 40 Days Vigil?
You are asked to stand outside the Planned Parenthood office, at least 15 feet away from the door, holding a sign which asks people to pray to end abortion. You do not need to speak to anyone, if you are not comfortable doing that. There is a 40 Days Shift Manager present at all times, to give you a sign and to answer questions. You may stay as long as you like –or as short as 1 hour.

Is what we are doing illegal?
Absolutely not! We stand and pray peacefully. We do not block anyone from entering or leaving the building.

Is the 40 Days Campaign successful?
YES! Since it began in 2007, at least 12,668 babies have been “saved” –meaning their mothers changed their minds about having an abortion. Over 140 abortion workers have left their jobs and over 75 abortion centers have closed permanently.

How do I get involved?
The person to contact in the Pittsburgh area is Nikki Bruni, nbruni@40daysforlifepgh.com or 412-926-9413. Or visit 40daysfor lifepittsburgh.com for more information. Or, just show up at the Planned Parenthood location anytime between 7am and 7pm during the 40 days of the campaign.
